AMERICAN Steel Pipe

Our Story

AMERICAN Cast Iron Pipe Company was founded in Birmingham, Alabama, in 1905, by John J. Eagan. He believed in doing business by the Golden Rule: Treat others the way you want to be treated. More than a century later, AMERICAN's 2,000-acre Birmingham campus employees 1,600 people and serves as the headquarters for the company that now produces a diversified line of products for the waterworks and energy industries.

In 1963, AMERICAN expanded its product line with the manufacture of ERW steel pipe, establishing AMERICAN’s Steel Pipe Division. Today, AMERICAN Steel Pipe makes carbon steel pipe in diameters from 12.75" to 24", in lengths up to 100 feet.

AMERICAN is known for its continuous improvement and world-class facilities. In 2015, AMERICAN Steel Pipe completed a $70-million expansion, including a new 150,000-square-foot processing facility and upgrades to its two mills.

AMERICAN Steel Pipe produces steel pipe for national and international projects – all proudly sourced and “Made in America.”
