Opportunities in the Manufacturing Division

Once hired into Manufacturing, employees have opportunities to develop the skills and the leadership abilities that can take them beyond entry level. Here is an overview of the opportunities:

Entry-level production jobs – In the Ductile Iron Pipe, Melting, Steel Pipe and Plant Maintenance departments. View current job listings

Skilled craft positions – Electrician, maintenance mechanic, machinist, HVAC technician and plumber, for example.

Apprentices – The TradeUp Apprentice Program prepares candidates for skilled craft positions through on-the-job training and academic study. AMERICAN employees are eligible to self-select for the program after completing their initial six months of employment. Some benefits of becoming an apprentice include: the potential to achieve higher pay rates faster; access to skills-based opportunities not dependent on seniority; job variety; enhanced job security; and the development of skills you will have for a lifetime.

Manufacturing supervisory positions – Starting with leadman, there are several supervisory levels in our manufacturing operations. An assessment program evaluates a candidate’s readiness and guides the way to additional development as needed.
